Welcome to the PYCC Website!

The choir was established in 1949 when a group of far sighted councillors formed Nelson Municipal Children's Choir.  This grew quickly under the leadership of Mr Edward Parr OBE who led the choir for the next 50 years, they had become the Nelson Civic Choirs.

In the late1980's, Mr David Wilkinson began helping Mr Parr, along with Shirley Cockcroft, and was later followed by Julie Townson and James Rimmer until Susan Hargreaves took over as the accompanist from James.  Over the years, the choir has become modernised and has created many opportunities for all its members, making the choir much more than just singing.

The choir has continued to be successful over the years, winning competitions and giving thousands of concerts in many locations including London, Wales, Ireland, Germany, Holland, France, Italy, Canada, Belgium and Spain.  The choirs have also appeared on television and recorded their own music CD's.

The choir also boasts many a success story with some of its former members going on to achieve greatness through the world of music.  Read some of our former members' stories here

Everyone is welcome to join our choir; there is no need to audition.  We meet every Friday evening during term time at Park High School from 6:00pm until 7:30pm.  Our subscription is just £12 a term.  Please note that we are not tied to the school in any way other than using it for our rehearsals.

We have two age groups; 6 - 11 years old for Pendle Children's Choir and 11+ years old for Pendle Youth Choir.  We have many events and team building exercises throughout each term for individual and combined choirs.

Please see below for contact details including the location for our rehearsals.
